Zovo Swimlane
Swimlane flowcharts from your process steps.
Zovo Swimlane turns a process into a cross-functional flowchart. Give the lanes (roles, teams or systems), the steps with the lane that owns each one, and the links between them. Each step is drawn inside its own lane, as a start, step, decision or end shape. The flow runs left to right with lanes as rows, or top down with lanes as columns. Steps are placed in flow order, so links outside a loop point forward; loops are drawn with a dashed return line and listed. Links run in the space between the steps, and decision branches carry their labels. A geometry check on the final drawing counts steps outside their lane, overlapping steps, overlapping labels and lines that cross a step, and reports each count. A process check lists steps not reachable from a start, steps with no path to an end, decisions with fewer than 2 labeled branches and loops. Downloads: a vector PDF (Letter, A4 or Tabloid, text of at least 6 pt, more pages for large processes with the lane names on each page), an SVG and a CSV of the steps with lane and flow position.
What it does
- Lanes as rows (left to right) or as columns (top down), 2 to 12 lanes
- Start, step, decision and end shapes; each step inside its own lane
- Flow order: links outside a loop point forward; loops drawn dashed and listed
- Geometry check on the drawing: steps outside their lane, overlaps and lines crossing a step are counted
- Process check: unreachable steps, steps with no path to an end, decisions without 2 labeled branches
- PDF (Letter, A4 or Tabloid), SVG and a CSV of steps with lane and flow position

Limitations
- Up to 12 lanes, 150 steps and 300 links; 120 characters per step and 40 per label
- Steps are placed automatically by flow order; manual positions, colours per step, sub-processes and message flows between pools are not supported
- Refused with the reason: unknown lanes or ids, duplicate lanes, ids or links, a link from a step to itself, no start or no end step, an end step with outgoing links, a decision without 2 labeled branches; it does not guess
- The PDF font covers Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and Vietnamese; Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew and emoji show as ? in the PDF (the SVG and CSV keep them)
- PDF text is at least 6 pt; when one step with its branch labels is wider than the page at 6 pt (for example a decision with 15 or more labeled branches in the vertical layout on Letter), no PDF is made and the SVG and CSV are, with a note
- Files of large diagrams are kept for 1 hour so the download links work, then deleted; download the files to keep them
